The CRIS group was filmed by Channel 9 of Oklahoma City performing a Native American smudging ritual in a home in northwest Oklahoma City Wednesday November 19,2008. Christian Price of Channel 9 and the team consisting of Lisa Ghariani, Katey West and new team member Jennifer Pryse arrived at around 7:00 PM to smudge the home. The home owner stated that he had only experienced a few [creepy] incidents while living in the home. The home had been in his family for approximately 30 years with little to no paranormal activity noted. Stephen, the home owner said that sometimes he would wake up at night and feel a presence in his room. Many people choose to go ahead and smudge their home to clear the area of negative or residual energy. The group had no idea what was to be documented during this routine smudging. One anomaly was noted in the photos taken below. Several EVP were recorded on digital audio during the investigation and following smudging including one class A which are posted to the right of this page. Christian interviewed Lisa about the correct way to smudge and the history and folklore behind the ritual. The link to this interview will be posted soon.
Note: In the photo above taken by Jennifer Pryse a mirror in the living room area has two faint orbs. Notice the area directly behind the green cloth draped over a chair.
Now note: In the photo immediately following the first the silhouette of what appears to be someone looking down. The object in the photo can't be a shadow because it is behind the green cloth next to the bookshelf. A shadow would have fallen in front of the cloth.
In the next photo we look for something near the book case that may have created a back shadow and we find nothing that would resemble the object in the previous photo. This photo was taken a few minutes earlier than the two photos above. This was Jennifer's first actual on sight investigation and smudging so she is still in training. As a rule, our group takes photos in a series of three 2-3 photos per angle. This is done so when we are reviewing photos for anomalies we have a sequence of shots to compare. In this situation we only had one photo per angle so it is hard to estimate what exactly this anomaly was.
In the first clip which was recorded near the bedroom we hear what sounds like a male voice say " You've got to get moving out people" [class C]
This EVP is probably one of the most fascinating ...we recorded this just as Lisa is lighting the sage stick. She is adjusting her fan. Lisa is actually talking when a dominant male voice cuts in and in a matter-of-fact tone says quickly " Go to the light and state your business " [class A]
In the last clip which was recorded towards the end of the smudging in the garage, a creepy male voice is recorded ordering us to " Get back over here ". [class B] While listening to the initial recording Lisa noted that the voice on the tape was talking back wards. When we reversed the clip we hear very clearly the veiled threat. Often during smudgings we find that some of the lost souls actually hide in the garage or closets possibly attempting to prolong their fate.
